Welcome to our monthly newsletter!

Below, you'll find 18 "gems" that have been launched on Product Hunt in January but were not featured.

The products cover various areas such as software development, marketing, and graphic design. Some are also of interest to a general audience, e.g. a tool to detect possible security threats of browser extensions, and an AI fact checker.

The products are ordered by our overall rating, from 3 to 1 diamonds, see Product ratings in the welcome post on Reddit. For products assigned the same number of diamonds, we also try to sort the best ones first.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž Xyris – Professional vector graphics animation (web app)

Full-featured SVG vector graphics editor and animation tool based on the SMIL standard (with SMIL, no JavaScript or CSS is needed - the complete animation is described within an <svg> element). It’s impossible to list all important features in a few lines, so I just mention motion path, morph and property animation, a filter editor, and editing history as examples.

My take: I've quickly tested it and was impressed by the comprehensive functionality, clear and beautiful interface, performance and overall quality of Xyris. There are still some issues, but it is also still in beta, so I have high expectations for the release.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž Extension Auditor – Checks browser extensions for potential security and privacy threats

Evaluates and displays permissions of installed browser extensions to detect potential security and privacy threats. A dashboard provides an overview for all extensions, details pages list the permissions of an extension systematically. For Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave.

My take: Browser extensions with extensive permissions can pose serious security and privacy threats, so a tool like this can be highly recommended. Extension Auditor seemed to work very well in my test, the interface is sophisticated and easy to use. However, I did not check the results for correctness. Has been improved since PH launch.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž Genlogin – No-code browser automation solution, supporting multi-account use on single device

Graph-based browser automation tool, supporting multiple browser instances. Antidetect technology allows usage of many accounts on a single device without getting banned. Ready-made scripts for 1000+ use cases are available from built-in store. For Windows and Mac.

My take: Genlogin looks like a comprehensive and quite sophisticated solution. However, I did not test it in any detail. Interface is not optimal. User guide is not available in English currently, but a few tutorial videos are. Several good reviews but also critical ones, inconclusive. Alternatives include gologin.com

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž FactSnap – AI fact checker (browser extension)

A Chrome browser extension to fact-check statements found on the web. A preliminary assessment is provided very quickly, and a detailed analysis with sources after a few seconds.

My take: Unfortunately, false or misleading statements are no rarity on the Internet, and it is a common practice to make claims without proof or sources, so tools like this are much needed. FactSnap did work well in some but not all of my tests. While I hope for improvements, I think it can already be very helpful when used with care.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž ReplyPilot – AI reply suggestions for social media

Suggests replies on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube. Media can be analyzed. Can be personalized by describing your persona and style, and each reply can be customized.

My take: While bots and AI-generated responses are a big problem on social media, I think using a β€œcopilot” like this can be justifiable when used with care. ReplyPilot worked quite well in my quick test. Personalization is clearly a big advantage of this tool, but does not yet work as well as expected. Improvements are planned.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž UpSnatch – Search engine for expired domains

Advanced search engine for domains that expire soon or have just expired. Using AI, it tries to find domains relevant to the terms entered. Results are shown in a table with important properties, and many sort options and filters are available. Further, it offers lists with special categories of expiring domains.

My take: UpSnatch is a sophisticated tool for finding domain gems. In my quick test, it worked quite well in general. However, it often included a high number of domains not relevant to the search terms. Improvements are planned. I did not check the comprehensiveness.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž Hearfluence - AI Reddit monitoring for lead generation

Scans and monitors Reddit communities for posts that are relevant to you according to descriptions given in natural language. Offers email and Slack notifications. Up to 1 scan / hour.

My take: Hearfluence is one of the first AI lead generation tools for Reddit (redreach.ai and advite.ai are other ones). It returned useful results in my tests, but clearly did not work optimal. I didn’t compare it to alternatives. See comments on PH.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž Uppi – Open source uptime monitoring tool

Open-source uptime monitoring for websites and simple APIs (supports HTTP/HTTPS and TCP, but no headers, no POST requests, no certificate check). Notifications can be sent via email, Slack, Pushover, Bird, or Android / iOS apps that are also available. Status pages can also be set up.

My take: Uppi could be a good solution for small websites and simple APIs, especially if self-hosted for maximal security. It worked generally well in my test but several improvements would be possible.

πŸ’ŽπŸ’Ž UnlistedJobs – Job search engine with listings sourced from company sites directly

Scans company websites for job listings globally. Currently has 265,000+ jobs from 200,000+ companies. Unlike what the name suggests, jobs listed on big job boards are included and cannot currently be filtered out. Offers keyword search and several filters. Can send notifications for new matches.

My take: Could be very useful for finding job gems. Worked quite well in my quick test, but there are some shortcomings, e.g. the location filter is based on tags and there’s no perimeter search. I did not evaluate the comprehensiveness. Improvements are planned.
